Meet the Strategic PA Network Team

Sarah Howson – Founder, Strategic PA Network

Sarah Howson is the Founder of Strategic PA Network and brings more than twenty years of C-suite Executive Assistant experience to the community she leads today. Her career began supporting the CEO of a semiconductor start-up in Buckinghamshire before progressing to support both the CEO and CFO of an international FTSE250 oil and gas support services company. Throughout her EA career, Sarah managed international leadership conferences, global trade shows and investor roadshows, gaining first-hand experience of the strategic impact a high-performing assistant can have within an organisation.

Sarah has been privileged throughout her career to work alongside exceptional leaders who recognised the value of the Executive Assistant role, treated it with respect and embraced the power of true partnership. These experiences shaped her belief that when leaders and assistants work together with trust and mutual respect, extraordinary things can be achieved.

In 2015, Sarah successfully transitioned into an Event Project Manager role within the luxury automotive sector, organising high-end incentive programmes and demonstrating the breadth of transferable skills developed through the Executive Assistant profession. Being an EA at any level requires meticulous planning, strategic thinking, exceptional communication and the ability to build trusted relationships. These skills have remained at the heart of every role Sarah has undertaken.

Whilst on maternity leave in 2015, Sarah recognised a lack of accessible networking opportunities for assistants outside London. Determined to create a supportive community closer to home, she founded Bucks PA Network, which later evolved into Bucks, Berks & Oxon PA Network. Following a hugely successful expansion event at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons in 2019, the community continued to grow organically and, in 2022, became Strategic PA Network.

Today, Strategic PA Network is a thriving professional community built on connection, learning and development, with a simple ethos at its heart: no one stands on their own. Alongside her role within the Network, Sarah is also the Co-Founder of Strategic PA Recruitment, an award-winning boutique search firm dedicated to supporting the business support profession. Through both businesses, she remains a passionate advocate for Executive Assistants, Personal Assistants and Chiefs of Staff and is committed to elevating and championing the profession she loves.

Away from work, Sarah is a proud mum to two boys and often jokes that there will definitely be no more maternity leaves. After all, Strategic PA Network was born during maternity leave number one and Strategic PA Recruitment followed during maternity leave number two, so she feels she has more than done her bit. Sarah has always maintained an open-door approach when it comes to sharing her IVF journey and supporting others navigating similar experiences. Currently embracing her football and golf mum era, she can usually be found on the sidelines as the loudest and proudest supporter, cheering on her family with the same enthusiasm and passion she brings to her professional community.

Marianne Whitlock– Director, Strategic PA Network

Marianne Whitlock is a Director of Strategic PA Network and brings a wealth of experience spanning business support, international programme management, luxury travel, events, community building and business leadership. Throughout her career, Marianne has built a reputation for creating meaningful connections, developing trusted relationships and bringing people together to achieve exceptional outcomes. These qualities have become the foundation of the professional communities and businesses she helps lead today.

Marianne began her career in business support as an Administrative Assistant within an independent direct sales tour operator. Demonstrating a natural aptitude for organisation, relationship management and strategic thinking, she progressed through the business to become a Product Manager responsible for overseeing worldwide incentive and recognition programmes. In this role, she managed an extensive portfolio of international travel experiences, delivering programmes across North America, Canada, the Caribbean and beyond, including luxury cruises and bespoke travel experiences. The role provided opportunities to travel extensively around the world, working closely with suppliers, partners and clients while gaining valuable experience in project management, customer engagement and delivering exceptional experiences.

Following this, Marianne joined a luxury rail operator, specialising in once-in-a-lifetime journeys through the breathtaking Canadian Rocky Mountains. The role allowed her to further develop her expertise within the luxury travel sector while travelling extensively throughout Canada and Europe, building relationships with international partners and deepening her understanding of world-class customer service and experience-led business development.

Following the arrival of her four boys, Marianne chose to focus on family life while continuing to pursue her entrepreneurial spirit. During this time, she successfully ran her own lifestyle business and built a thriving kickboxing business, helping women and girls build confidence, resilience and achieve personal goals. These experiences further strengthened the people skills, adaptability and determination that continue to shape her leadership style today.

As her youngest son started middle school and she found herself with more time to dedicate to new professional opportunities, Marianne approached Sarah Howson, who had already established a thriving regional network for business support professionals. Recognising a shared passion for supporting and championing the profession, the pair joined forces to formalise the Network, develop its membership offering and create a sustainable platform for growth. Together, they also launched Strategic PA Recruitment, combining their expertise and industry knowledge to provide specialist recruitment services dedicated to the business support profession.

Today, Marianne and Sarah lead Strategic PA Network, a nationally recognised professional community built on connection, collaboration, learning and development. Guided by the belief that no one should stand alone in their professional journey, they have created a supportive environment where Executive Assistants, Personal Assistants, Chiefs of Staff and business support professionals can learn, grow and thrive.

Alongside her role within Strategic PA Network, Marianne is also Co-Founder and Director of Strategic PA Recruitment, an award-winning boutique search firm dedicated to supporting the business support profession. Through both businesses, she remains passionate about building communities, creating opportunities and championing the value and impact of the profession. She is committed to helping individuals and organisations realise their potential through meaningful connections, learning and career development.

Away from work, Marianne is a proud mum to four boys and understands first-hand the balancing act that comes with family life, business ownership and community leadership. Despite her busy professional commitments, she continues to run her own kickboxing business, teaching a weekly class for women and girls. Having spent many years as an instructor, Marianne remains passionate about helping others build confidence, resilience and self-belief, values that are reflected throughout both her personal and professional life.

Marianne is also someone who continually enjoys pushing herself beyond her comfort zone, embracing new challenges and learning new skills. A keen advocate for personal growth and wellbeing, she has developed a passion for endurance events and fundraising challenges, recently taking on the London Marathon and signing up to swim the iconic Serpentine. Whether in business, sport or life, she believes growth comes from challenging yourself, staying curious and embracing opportunities to learn.

Known for her warmth, energy and ability to bring people together, Marianne thrives on building relationships and supporting others to succeed. Whether fundraising for charitable causes, organising community initiatives, leading professional communities or coaching women and girls through kickboxing, she is driven by a genuine desire to make a positive difference and leave a lasting impact on the lives of others.

Toni Knowles - Membership & Partnership Manager

Toni is a highly organised and people focused professional who genuinely enjoys building relationships, supporting others, and helping things run smoothly behind the scenes.

Throughout her career (and being a Mum!) she has developed strong problem solving, communication, and time management skills, and brings those qualities into her work.

Toni is passionate about creating positive experiences, connecting with people, and making a meaningful contribution wherever she can. She is incredibly excited to join the Strategic PA team as Membership and Partnership Manager with Strategic PA, where she is looking forward to building strong partnerships, supporting our members, and being part of a team that is making a real difference.

Lucy Tyrrell - Administrative Assistant

Administrative Assistant at Strategic PA, loving the pace, variety and people‑focused nature of the role. After a career break to raise my three young girls, I returned to work in a school HR/Administrative position before transitioning back into a corporate environment.

My experience includes supplier management, technical product development and a strong focus on safety and quality standards for high‑profile brands, including 10 years at Debenhams. I now combine that commercial and technical background with strong organisational and administrative skills to support this busy team effectively.
